NatureBridge Campfire Chat: The Rebirth of the Elwha

Chairwoman Frances Charles of the Tribal Council of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and former Senator Bill Bradley, who helped broker and initiate the Elwha River Fisheries and Ecosystem Restoration Act of 1992, share the inspirational story of the Elwha River and the largest dam removal project in the country. The chat was moderated by Lynda Mapes, an environmental journalist for the Seattle Times.

The story many of us hear about the dam removal is the resurgence of the salmon populations; we’d argue that the most important outcome has been the restoration of hope. We hope you'll join us to celebrate the joy and magnitude of this accomplishment.

This virtual event is part of NatureBridge's 50th anniversary celebrations.
