Our team was informed that a leopard was stuck in a walled compound since morning.

We immediately rushed to the spot along with the forest official with all our gear.

On reaching the spot we saw a huge male leopard stuck in Barb wires used to cordon off a sensitive area.

The leopard was stuck while crossing a small hole made in the wall.

forest officials analyzed the situation and then decided to tranquilize the leopard.

The leopard was aggressive and tried to free itself. It had even bitten the wires and hence had a lot of blood. We were unsure of the injuries it had and hence decided that the leopard should not be disturbed.

We made a team and approached the leopard in a car and darted it. We could only dart it on the neck as the other half of the leopard's body was inaccessible

Due to the stress and also the size of the leopard, it had to be darted again.

After some 30 min, while the leopard was partly conscious, we approached with snare, towel, and net. We laid the snare on its neck and then cover the face with a towel.

We then started cutting the Barb wires in which the leopard was stuck.

Once it was freed from the wires, we pulled out the leopard from the rubble and put it into a net. It took 6 people to lift the leopard, which was a fully grown male weighing over 80kgs.the leopard was then shifted into the cage.

It was then examined by Govt Vets and first aid was administered.

The leopard was under observation and care for 38hrs and then released back into the wild

Special mention about the villagers who not only informed us about the leopard but also helped us in maintaining peace and allowing to carry out a safe and efficient rescue operation.
