Devil May Cry, DMD 100% Challenge, Mission 9

S-Rank Requirements:

Time: 8:00
Red orbs: 1500

Both the time *and* the red orb requirements were rather hard to meet on this mission: time would have been much easier if I hadn't had to collect the various items scattered throughout the mission - in the event, I collected 3 Devil Stars, 2 Holy Waters, 2 yellow orbs, and a blue orb fragment :p ... The only thing I left was a yellow orb in the field, which I'll pick up in M15 or 16.

This is a mixed bag, this mission. I'm mostly pleased with it, but a couple of parts I rather messed up. Oh well :p

Beginning - This went well. I even made the extremely difficult 2nd Air Hike over to the third pillar :p

Blades - Average. In the event, I killed 'em quickly enough, but I wish I had succeeded in getting one or two more critical hits.

Floating platforms - This part was cleared pretty decently, except for the flame kick after collecting Ifrit. Ideally, I should have flame-kicked OUTTA the exit, and not to the left of it - but never mind. Inadvertently, I showed the safest way of exiting the area - since if you step within the blue markers, you'll get a Death Scissors fight.

Griffon 1 - This fight went pretty well, I thought XD ... Incidentally, I exited and re-entered the area to start the battle with a Griffon on the ground, rather than in the air. I didn't mind starting with him up in the air, but it made the battle slower overall, and time was at a premium in this mission - so I switched to triggering a grounded Griffon.

The battle itself is pretty self-explanatory: grenade-rolling FTW :p ... I considered going to the Time Statue in the pillars area to buy some Ifrit abilities, but I figured it would take too long and wouldn't be worth it, for the amount of damage you can do with Ifrit - Griffon 1 just has high health all round.

So I stuck with grenade-rolling. I experimented with Air Raid while Griffy was on the ground (it's far too dangerous to use when he's up in the air), but ultimately it did pretty poor damage - the only time I bothered with Roundtrips was if Griffy rose up into the sky to do his divebomb attack; however, he never did that this run.

One last thing to note: I DT-cancelled the grenade gun shots to stay in DT mode more often. In DT mode, fire a grenade, then de-DT before the grenade hits Griffy - you'll get 2 runes back upon impact. Overall, apart from failing/forgetting to DT-cancel a couple of times, this fight went about as fast and as smoothly as I could have hoped for.

Misty woods - Whoops-a-daisy :p ... I do a kick jump onto the awkward tree stump just about okay, and an even trickier Air Hike up onto the ledge above with the Holy Water. But then, somehow LDK slipped and fell - whoops :p ... I managed to wall-jump back up onto the ledge after a couple of tries, but man, that section was a bit of a mess.

Final area - Didn't Vortex the orb fountain; Dante was too liable to spinning wildly out of control after a few Vortexes :p ... Incidentally, I had an idiotic problem in this area. I wanted to leave as soon as I had 1500 red orbs - but the number of red orbs in the right hand corner of the screen was obscured by a large, bright red "Recording" notice XD ... In the event, I had to take an educated guess. After opening the door, I was going to collect a few more red orbs just to be on the safe side, but saw the time on the timer, and decided I didn't have enough time - which I wouldn't have.

Anyway, my apologies for the mess ups, but I hope the rest of the mission makes up for them :p
