Webinar | Seeing Adolescent Mental Health in Full Color - Derek Peterson
Missed Derek Peterson’s keynote session at our October 20th Summit - Supporting Adolescent Mental Health by Strengthening Webs of Support, not to worry, AMP is bringing Derek back for a 90-min. webinar!
The focus will be on Seeing Adolescent Mental Health in Full Color and Web of Support metrics, measures, and motivations. Although similar to his recent keynote, this time he will be focusing on youth-serving organizations and their role in strengthening ‘webs of support’ for youth.
Title: Seeing Adolescent Mental Health in Full Color - Web of Support metrics, measures, and motivations.
What a long strange year this has been. While every one of us lived through the same storm, we floated in different boats. Thankfully most of the boats were adequate, even though some boats were barely up to the challenge. We build boats to provide safety, context, and confidence, much like how teens build their Webs of Support. The pandemic did not break our our teens. But, it did test their webs of support, as well as our own.
To address youth well-being and mental health, administering a checklist of deficiencies and measuring their pain(s) will never be enough. We can't possibly know how a teen is faring without getting insights into "the whole story behind their story." Their answer to "how are you doing? Or How are you feeling?" will be inadequate. Instead, we want to reflect with teens about the boat they are floating within. We want them to know the true measure and value of their web of support. With this information, together, we can work alongside them to Web Back Better.
Let's all take a role in reweaving teens into the web of life. It is what matters most.
