Is it worth creating a website with 3D? 🍀

Mostly, 3D content is very heavy, and either the website will crash during loading, or the user will simply leave while waiting

That’s why, when using 3D, it’s important to carefully adapt it for the web format — one that loads quickly without noticeably compromising quality.

For example, to create this model, I used three different programs and one additional extension.

I designed the model itself in @splinetool then exported it as a video, created a frame-by-frame sequence in After Effects, and exported it in JSON format using the Bodymovin extension. After that, I converted it into an animated SVG using the @SVGator service.

An animated SVG has a small file size and doesn’t significantly reduce visual quality, making it a great choice for web use.

In conclusion: 3D can and should be used on a website, as it grabs attention effectively and increases sales — but only if it’s properly optimized for the web.
