Reaction of NaOH and Al + H2O, or how to make hydrogen gas

Warning: This procedure produces hydrogen gas. Be careful, it may quickly start to burning. This experiment deals with highly corrosive sodium hydroxide so be careful. In this video, i will show you the reaction of sodium hydroxide and aluminum foil. You will need :
-sodium hydroxide
-some vial
- piece of aluminium foil
- goggles and gloves
- a pipette .
Put into the vial some piece of aluminium foil and pour approx. 1 gram of sodium hydroxide into the vial. Add approx. 5 drops of water and stand back. It will quickly produces hydrogen gas so do this step outside or in a very ventilled area because hydrogen can explode or quickly burn. Thank you for watching ChemExperimentalist original video.
