Q&A: CHERISH Pilot Grant Funding Opportunity
In early December, CHERISH hosted a virtual Q&A session with prospective candidates interested in the CHERISH pilot grant funding opportunity for 2022-2023. Pilot Grant & Training Core Director Brandon Aden and former pilot grant recipients Kit Delgado and Angélica Meinhofer shared an overview of the eligibility requirements, application process, and program experience.
For those who could not attend, here are a few takeaways from our speakers:
Pilot Grant & Training Core Director Brandon Aden shares, "We encourage interested applicants to submit a Letter of Intent. This is an opportunity to see if the project is a good match with CHERISH. If the project does not fit the eligibility criteria, we will provide feedback to help shape the proposal for submission. However, you are not required to apply if you submit the LOI."
Former pilot grant recipient Angélica Meinhofer says, "Let’s say I was applying for a grant… I have benefited from the mentorship through CHERISH and connections to other researchers that had the skillset I needed but I didn’t have."
Former pilot grant recipient Kit Delgado shares, "For someone who is starting out getting into substance use research, [CHERISH provided] a great network of other investigators to learn from and, through social media, disseminating other people’s work and our own work has been helpful."
To be considered for the upcoming cycle of the CHERISH pilot grant for 2022-2023, applicants should submit a Letter of Intent by Friday, January 28, 2022.
