七星潭事件 Chihsingtan beach

位於台灣的新月海灣～七星潭，因獨特天然景觀吸引每年近百萬的觀光人潮，而成為私人財團與政府的開發目標。2009年7月，花蓮縣政府向環保署提案廢止「七星潭環境影響說明書」審議結論，七星潭將面臨私人渡假村的進駐與縣政府大規模的開發。

在資訊不公開之下，花蓮在地居民、學生、民間團體及專家學者，組成〝搶救七星潭聯盟〞，發動連署，誓言搶救全民的七星潭，避免七星潭成為私人營利工具。

Located in Taiwan a half moonlike shaped Gulf ～ Chihsingtan beach has long been famous for its beautiful natural landscape, attracting thousands of tourists every year. As a result, the government and several private consortium had shown interest in developing the area. Officials from Hualien County made a proposal to the Department of Environmental Protection to abolish the "Chihsingtan Environmental Impact Statement" in June 2009; consequently, construction of private resorts and other large-scale development projects have been approved in Chihsingtan.

Due to insufficient information from the local government, Hualien residents, students, civil societies and experts have organized the "Rescue Chihsingtan Project", thus launching a petition to protest any upcoming development projects on Chihsingtan in order to preserve the beach.
