I share sounds and goodies that I make including the source audio that was created for use in this YouTube clip.
Let's get on with the show!
_______
OTARI 5050 LIDELL EDITION
Features :
--large range pitch CV control
--individual erase on/off per track allowing some nifty loop tricks
with the option of sound on sound per track
In use:
--Careful calibration and scaling of CV from the cirklon and Intellijel Triplatt allowed the tape to be mapped with midi to pitch over an octave
with the ability to add portamento to that stepped motion
--A control track that allows the tape to be a clock master is achieve by measuring a looped click and using that to create a click track
The click goes to an audio gate to clean up the pulses.
The Signal passed through an envelope generator to give a beat count.
The QCD from 4MS multiples that pulse as needed to allow synch of the various eurorack sequencers. I liked used the euclidean circles and the Intellijel Metroplix as they advanced on a per clock basis rather well.
The up shot of all this is…
The tape becomes the MASTER CLOCK!
That’s so useful as the tape can run sequences in time at different playback (and thus record) speeds for sound on sound and when combined with midi control of the tape pitch, known and repeatable intervalic moves can be accessed.
--Adding an LFO to the tape speed creates vibrato.
I didnt include In this video but of course the fact the LFO can go directly to the speed of the tape allows a serious flanger to be made with this addition.
It require a ref print of one layer of regular speed audio to be rendered to the computer or another recorder. Perhaps in the next video !
Thanks to Ian @ LOVE MAGNET ELECTRONICS for making these mods a reality!
