1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 - # 7488

For consignment, a 1984 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser showing 545 miles but the true miles are unknown. This truck was imported from the United Arab Emirates in 2024 and underwent a nuts and bolts restoration including an engine rebuild. There is perhaps no hotter market than vintage rugged utility vehicles and as our article states, they are effortlessly cool, and this one is especially chill!

Exterior
A nice shade of light green adorns the pickup, called Spring Green which is going to look fantastic in the woods, desert, local car show, or Starbucks drive-thru. The traditional ivory roof keeps out the heat when you're out at Joshua Tree or cruising Atlantic Avenue in Longport, New Jersey. Suffice it to say, the exterior is presented in a stunning color combo. The ivory paint also characteristically covers the grille and headlights making FJ's instantly recognizable, here augmented by yellow fog lights on the chrome bumper. A back rack protects the fixed rear window, part of a five window configuration, and looms over the Spring Green painted bed with the tailgate highlighting the brand name in white paint next to the red painted 4x4 badge. 16-inch steel wheels are painted steel blue, wearing standard hubcaps, and are wrapped in knobby 265/75/R16LT tires with a mid 2021 date code. The only imperfection we found was a scuff on the edge of the painted step up.

Interior
Spectacular Tobacco colored leatherette begins on the door panels with stitched square pieced backing, black hardware, and handles. Upright and taut bucket seats sit high in the cab wearing that same saddle toned material with headrests attached, the passenger seat wider than the driver's. Slight patina on the black plastic steering wheel is met with a clean dash with a nickel faceplate over the instrument cluster as well as the switchgear panel against a green background. An AM/FM/CD radio lives on the lower panel above the A/C controls and vents. A long shifter and range selector rise cleanly from the green floor, wrapped in black boots while rubber mats protect the footwells. Up above, the perforated white headliner and visors in great condition, consistent with the entire interior.

Drivetrain
Other than some surface rust, the engine presents cleanly and dust free. It's a rebuilt 4.2 liter inline six cylinder rated at 125 horsepower and fueled via a 2-barrel carburetor. A 4-speed manual transmission is on board and sends power to 3.70 gears in the front and rear axles while power brakes do the slowing and stopping, discs in front and drums in back.

Undercarriage
Minimal surface rust is seen on this clean underside where we find a tow hook and spare tire and dry conditions. The ball and claw axles are clean and clear and the single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler before terminating just before the rear valance. There is no catalytic converter present. Suspension consists of leaf springs front and rear.
