Pro-Pain - Stone Cold Anger (2026)

Stone Cold Anger is the 16th studio album by the American hardcore band Pro-Pain, released on May 15, 2026 by Napalm Records. This marks the band's first album in 11 years (since Voice of Rebellion in 2015) and their debut on the Napalm label.

After more than three decades of career (founded in 1991 in New York), Pro-Pain returns with renewed energy and the same combative spirit as always. The album features the return of guitarist Eric Klinger (who had previously played in the band).

Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Eric Klinger at EKG and Blackout studios. The cover art is by Matt Collins. The album is approximately 33 minutes long, maintaining the direct and straightforward format typical of hardcore.

Stone Cold Anger is a classic hardcore album with strong elements of groove metal, thrash and crossover. The band delivers heavy, groovy riffs, relentless drumming, Gary Meskil's raspy, angry vocals (which remain just as intense after decades), catchy melodies in some choruses, and a modern production that remains true to the band's raw sound.

The sound is described as heavy, furious, and pit-ready, with influences reminiscent of Biohazard, Madball, Sick of It All, and Hatebreed. There are welcome variations: more melodic and accessible moments, rock 'n' roll passages, fast two-steps, and crushing grooves. It's not a reinvention, but a natural and energetic evolution of Pro-Pain's characteristic sound—proof that the band hasn't lost its edge.

The themes revolve around retribution, anger against government corruption, social injustice, economic pressure, tax-funded wars, and the growing frustration of the population. Gary Meskil explicitly mentions the feeling that people are reaching their breaking point, citing real-life examples of riots in various countries. The lyrics are direct, political, and provocative, in the best old-school hardcore style.
