Mesozoic Symphonies, Bizarre-Ass Trees from the Jurassic & Time-Capsule Islands

In this episode CPBBD we take a gander at the Ex-Situ (out of habitat) Conservation of some extremely bizarre and ancient conifers from a small island in the South Pacific, with a cameo by the little-known Cordilleran Cypress Tree, Austrocedrus chilensis, from Chile.

New Caledonia is a treasure trove of bizarre and ancient lineages of plants and animals, including what's thought to be the "oldest" living lineage of flowering plant, Amborella trichopoda.

Send my sorry ass to New Caledonia to get video of these weird green spires in habitat, donate to www.patreon.com/crimepaysbutbotanydoesnt
