CM Afridi Demands Rs550bn from Centre, Calls for Immediate NFC Meeting

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Saturday (October 25) demanded the federal government release Rs550 billion owed to the province and called for an immediate National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting.

Speaking at a jirga in Khyber district, CM Afridi highlighted the province’s sacrifices for national security, noting that after 9/11, KP bore the brunt of drone strikes and military operations, affecting homes, markets, and mosques.

Afridi warned against any new military operations in tribal districts, stressing that the provincial government and KP parliamentarians must be consulted in all decisions concerning the region.

He chaired a meeting of senior PTI leadership to review law and order in the province and announced a peace jirga in the KP Assembly to bring together political leaders, scholars, and civil society to address terrorism and security challenges.

The Chief Minister emphasized that KP stands with Pakistan for peace, but will not accept civilian casualties as collateral damage.
