The Cold War: The Coup in Chile 1973 - Episode 51
When Salvador Allende became President within Chile, the US started to become worried about the socialist policies that he was implemented. This meant that when the new military commander-in-chief, General Augusto Pinochet, launched a military coup, nothing was done to stop in. Whilst the Coup in Chile did overthrow the Marxist regime, it led to a dictatorship in Chile.
