We had a lot of fun doing this. Each box was done a quarter at a time. My son and I both picked Gem Mountain as our #1. It gave us sapphires with each quarter of sifting. The other 2 started out great and then went downhill with a lack of sapphires. Gem Mountain gravel has small clear stones you can search for hours finding. Montana Gems did give us the most ct. weight. Below is our ranking.

The gravel may also contain rubies, garnets, hematite and/or gold. The sapphires found in this area generally range from 1 to 6 carats, but an occasional larger crystal is recovered. THIS IS A 30 POUND BAG OF VIRGIN ( NEVER LOOKED THROUGH ) GRAVEL. Shipping is included, inside the USA. If outside of USA price will be at actual shipping cost. It is 1/2" to 1/8" size material. We enhanced these bags with 10 cts of sapphires to every bag to make sure you get some sapphires. There is also a chance of having sapphires, garnets, and gold inside every bag. They are all filled with un-searched gravel. The bags have an average of 1 natural sapphire per bag that was not added. We do not know how big or how clean it will be. I found a 9.45 ct. sapphire in one the other day. We have some of the biggest and best sapphires in the world, that come off our mine. The sapphires are from the Eldorado Bar sapphire deposit on the banks of the Missouri River, east of Helena, Montana. The sapphires come in every color and all sizes and clarity. They can range in value up to 100,000.00. The garnets can be cherry red or flame orange. The gold is in small flakes, nuggets and dust. Also, look for hematite fossils, topaz, jadite, serpentine and agate. Sapphires come in every color, the rare colors for us are orange, pink, purple, dark green and dark blue.
