WALEZI WA BAHARI

Walezi Wa Bahari is a short film that shows the success of a community-based organization that felt the need to preserve their source of livelihood; the ocean, which was under a threat leading to decline in fish numbers. This brought in the support by Oceans Alive Kenya and the journey has been successful as more productive livelihood is witnessed. It's also a call to other communities to work together to preserve their natural resources for the community and by the community.

After an intense 7-day training at the Impact Filmmaking Course offered by WildlifeDirect and Oceans Alive Kenya, 15 students, working in groups of 5 produced these three films showcasing the lives and needs of the Kuruwitu community in Vipingo, Kilifi Kenya.

The films are a first draft and will be fine-tuned within the next one month with the help and guidance of experts from the environmental filmmaking industry. (If you would like to take part in this please write to us through pauline@wildlifedirect.org )

Kindly watch the film and give us your feedback which will go to improving the skills of this cohort and making them all amazing impact filmmakers!
