Secrets of Heidi Allen - Investigative Series
18 year old convenience store worker Heidi Allen was last seen alive on Easter Sunday 1994. This year long investigation relied on interviews with family and friends, past and current investigators and those connected to a list of possible suspects. It also digs into the extensive court record of the separate trials of two brothers accused in her disappearance and presumed murder. Ultimately, it is access granted through the Freedom of Information Law that allowed us to review the complete investigative file in the Sheriff's Department. That investigation revealed a handwritten note from the prosecution refusing to release key documents to the defense. Those documents included notes from an FBI Specialist who interviewed the only person on record who may have seen the kidnapped teen after her abduction. Our reports generated renewed dialogue in the community about the controversial case. It also led to Sheriff investigators conducting a fresh round of interviews.
