IMG Success Story: Anesthesiology MATCH with 0 LoRs in Specialty??

Paul M. Osunwa, Jr. was born in Southern California and is a first generation Nigerian. Before Medical School he worked as a Registered Nurse for 3 years after obtaining a Bachelors of Nursing degree from Texas Christian University in 2014.

“In undergrad while completing the BSN clinical coursework I competed in Track and Field as a Shot-putter and competed as a 2x NCAAD1 National Championship qualifier. I recently graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine. I completed the first 2 years in Grenada and the last two years at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA. Grenada was a learning experience far beyond just the realm of academics. If you have the chance, live in a foreign country for a while, learn the culture and their way of life!

During Medical School, I served as the President of the Student Government Association and as a Facilitator for SGU’s Department of Educational Services (DES). I will be starting my position as an Anesthesia Resident at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences College of Medicine in July. I’m currently in ENT as my last rotation, before graduation in June!
