What species is this snake???

I looked down as I was sitting on my deer stand and seen this snake below me. Can anyone identify what species this is? It appeared to be 7-8 feet long. It stayed there for 2 hours motionless. I threw sticks at it and could not get it to move. When I got ready to get down, I looked down and it was gone.
