Booing Disrupts Anzac Day Dawn Services Nationwide | 10 News

Booing has disrupted Anzac Day services in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth during Indigenous Acknowledgements of Country.

In Sydney, Indigenous leader Uncle Ray Minniecon - who has served Australia - was among those targeted, while a similar interruption occurred during Melbourne’s Welcome to Country.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the Sydney dawn service, while in Melbourne and Perth the heckling was eventually drowned out by applause from the wider crowd.

Leaders including Jacinta Allan and Richard Marles condemned the behaviour as “disgraceful” and a breach of the day’s respect.

Fight for Australia, the group formerly known as March for Australia, which has staged major anti-immigration rallies, had earlier urged supporters online to boo Welcome to Country ceremonies, fuelling concerns about coordinated disruptions.
