Col. Vance Cryer on the Life-Changing Impact of the Horatio Alger Association

As a young person, Col. Vance Cryer faced adversities but refused to let them define him. Through a @HoratioAlgerAssociation Scholarship, he was able to pursue higher education, which completely changed the course of his life. Vance would go on to lead a 27-year career with the Marines and, in 2019, became the first Horatio Alger Alumni to be inducted as a Horatio Alger Member. To this day, he credits the Association with showing him how the power of his actions could change who he would become.
