Joe explores the Olympia Reporter, type bar electric machine, made in Japan by Nakajima, one of the last quality type bar electrics made and a workhorse for late-20th century writers of the pre-computer era.

Type bar electrics get no respect. They don’t have the stylistic qualities of pre-war black lacquered, round key beauties, nor are they as portable as that Hermes Rocket or Groma Kolibri; but they do represent the evolutionary end of the type bar machine, able to lay down words at blazing speeds, all with little or no finger effort required.
