Rare Tornado in New York State

August 2, 2020: A supercell formed near LaGrange NY and tracked northeast through rural Dutchess County. We followed it up Rt 44, and finally got a view at a scenic overlook just west of Amenia NY, just as a blocky wall cloud came into view. Shortly thereafter, a wispy tornado touched down, making intermittent contact with the ground. A greenhouse on the NY/CT border was damaged by this tornado.
