MG Off-Road Racing 2021 Vegas To Reno Highlight Video

Another sweet MG highlight video from @dirtmafiadesignz FYI this is a bit of a long winded post 😂 Our first V2R in the 6100 class started out pretty well with @apfimaging and I qualifying 13th out of 30. This entire season is all about learning the truck, setup and strategies. We made a mistake by not down gearing the truck for qualification and it cost us quite a bit of time getting up to speed on the soft course. Lesson learned!
Race day we were confident and prepared. The team had a great plan & pit strategies, but it wasn’t meant to be this year. At mile 7 we lost 3rd gear. Apparently the shift cable was slightly out of alignment and 3rd was trying to engage when I was in 2nd and that smoked the transmission.
Joe and crew were waiting for me at pit 1 and they swapped in the spare transmission. This wasn’t as simple as just swapping it over as the spare had never been in the truck before. Joe had to work his magic swapping parts over and creating a few plumbing connections on the fly. Another learning lesson that won’t happen again, we will have a complete ready to swap trans going forward. To add insult to Injury the torque converter locked up from the gnarly burnt fluid from trans 1. The last 510 miles were a bit of a struggle getting up to speed and keeping the speed up. A bright spot in the race was our pit stops, they were on point. The crew got me two new rear tires and 90 gallons of gas In 30secs🤘🏼After pressing as hard as we could with the beast we had and battling through endless UTV’s we found some clean air and had good run to the Finishline 🏁 When you have issues a finish is a win!
