Medicare Part A Benefit Period Explained | Avoid Extra Hospital Costs #shorts #medicarequestions

Understanding the Medicare Part A Benefit Period can save you money.
A benefit period starts the day you’re admitted to the hospital or a skilled nursing facility as an inpatient. It doesn’t reset every year—it only ends after you’ve been out of inpatient care for 60 days in a row.
For example, if you stay in the hospital for 5 days, go home, and return within 30 days, you’re still in the same benefit period, so you don’t pay a new deductible. But if you stay home for 60 days and then go back, a new benefit period begins, and a new deductible applies.
