Jaguar has launched a new version of its most affordable executive saloon, the Jaguar XE. Here are five quick things you need to know about it:

First, the price
The new Jaguar XE starts at Rs 44.98 lakhs, which puts it squarely in direct competition with German rivals such as the Audi A4, BMW 3series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The new Jaguar XE is currently available at Jaguar Land Rover dealerships across the country in two petrol and diesel variants.

Second, the features
The Jaguar XE already had a long list of features but the new model lengthens it further. The car comes with numerous driver aids on board. For example, there's a 360-degree camera setup that helps you park more easily in tight spots. There's also a driver condition monitoring system that warns if you look tired. There's even an air quality sensor and a wireless smartphone charger inside the cabin. Oh, and there's a Lane Keep Assist that will automatically push the car back into its lane while driving.

Third, the ride control
The Jaguar XE comes with various electronic systems on board to ensure you have absolute control over the car. For example, the car employs Jaguar's proprietary ‘torque vectoring by braking’ technology, which applies brakes to the inside wheels automatically to ensure rotational force is sent to the wheels with the most amount of grip. In addition, the car has dynamic stability control and traction control.

Fourth, the infotainment system
The dashboard of the Jaguar XE sports a 10-inch touchscreen panel for infotainment. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay natively. What's more, the car comes with an all-digital instrumentation cluster so you can see more information, such as live navigation. In addition, certain elements of the car can be controlled from your smartphone using Jaguar's proprietary InControl Apps.

Fifth, the powertrain
Lastly, the Jaguar XE comes in two engine options: a four-cylinder turbocharged 2-litre petrol and diesel motor. While the diesel makes 180 horsepower, the petrol makes 250 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift and paddle shifters.
