ZPB30A Constant Current electronic battery tester / Discharger
Video on how to use the ZP30A1 constant current active load and battery discharger. It requires a 1Amp 12V supply (centre pin positive). It has two functions:
Function 1(FUN1) - Constant current active load
Function 2 (FUN2) - Constant current battery discharger
To set the desired mode, power the unit up whilst holding the red start/stop key and select the desired function by turning the silver knob.
For battery discharge testing, select the cut-off voltage for when you consider the battery to be flat. For a 18650 Li-ion Cell, that would typically be 2.8v
Then set the desired discharge current, for one cell I use 3 amps and for a pair of cells (which is how I’ve tended to salvage them from the Laptop packs) I set it to 6amps.
Then press the red start key and leave it running until it stops. It will give a constant update of the cell voltage, Ah and Watt Hours.
The cheapo 18650 battery holder gets hot, so I soldered new thicker wires in. You can get proper test rigs for 18650 batteries.
