The Count of Monte Cristo - Mercedes recognises Edmond Dantès

Mercedes realises her Edmond is still alive after thinking he had been executed 16 years ago. Rather, he escapes from prison and changes his persona to The Count of Monte Cristo, to exact his revenge on those responsible for ruining his life. Initially Mercedes recognises him but Edmond casts further doubts into her mind. She then notices him twirling his hair, an old habit of his, that gives away his identity but the now Count of Monte Cristo denies he is Edmond Dantes and accuses her of betrayal. Mercedes then tries a third time at his palace convincing the broken Edmond to let things go. Favourite scenes of the movie.
