Returning West and East contenders like 2-time shootout winner Nathan Ramsey, Lites West champ Grant Langston, West runner-up Andrew Short, Billy Laninovich, Ryan Sipes, rookies Ryan Villopoto and Mike Alessi, Lites East champ Davi Millsaps, 2005 runner-up Josh Hansen, Josh Grant, Tommy Hahn, Steve Boniface, 2003 East champ Branden Jesseman, and Chris Gosselaar battle it out for bragging rights for the best of the best in the SX Lites class for the 2006 Dave Coombs Sr. Supercross Lites East/West Shootout. West Lites champ Grant Langston is a no-show for this race due to a wrist injury. 2-time winner Nathan Ramsey fails to qualify for the main event in his last ever Supercross Lites race. This race is a bitter sweet night for Team Honda as Andrew Short wins his 2nd career East/West Shootout (Short first won in 2003 on a Suzuki RM125) after their heartbreak with Andrew Short losing the SX Lites West Championship at the last race in Seattle.
