Garage Roller Door 🚪 Installation 🛠️ Guide

A guide on how to install a series A roller door.

PART 1: Measuring
1. Measure the width of the opening (between the columns)
2. Mark the center of the opening
3. Use the center point and mark-out the daylight opening of the door
4. This is not the roller door width, as you need to subtract the tracks widths

PART 2: Door Jambs
1. Align the door jamb with the mark on the ground
2. Place a mark where the jamb intersects rafter
3. Extend the mark using combination square
4. Cut along the lines
5. Ensure the jamb is level and on the marked concrete line
6. Tek the jamb on to the rafter
7. Step drill and then bolt
8. Tek the side girts on to the jamb
9. Repeat steps for the other side

PART 3: Footings
1. Tek the roller door footing brackets on to the door jambs
2. Measure & mark 100mm (can differ) from the slab edge
3. Drill the hole for the anchor bolt
4. Hammer in the anchor bolt
5. Tighten using a rattle gun

PART 4: Header
1. Mark the height of the roller door on to the door jambs
2. Tek the header brackets above the mark on the door jamb
3. Tek the header beam on to the header brackets

PART 5: Bracket Arms
1. Measure the radius of the door
2. Use the door radius to place a mark above the header beam
3. Tek the bracket arm in to place
4. Step drill a bolt hole
5. Bolt in to place
6. Ensure brackets are bolted securely. If done incorrectly, it is extremely hazardous

PART 6: Tracks
1. Bend up the track ends, to prevent the door from catching on them
2. Mark the track height
3. Cut to length
4. Attach track brackets
5. Tek the tracks on to the jambs

PART 7: Installing the Door
1. A duct lift is the recommended way to lift a roller door into place
2. If the door is low, muscle can also be used to lift it in to place
3. Screw the roller door in to place
4. Tighten
5. Unwrap the roller door

PART 8: Lock
1. Step drill holes for the lock
2. Check if the door locks, file the holes if it does not
3. Test the lock
