OpenAI unveiled GPT-5.5 on Thursday after accidental Codex leaks, a 47-minute API routing error, and a cryptic "NS41" post on X stoked days of speculation.
President Greg Brockman called GPT-5.5 "a new class of intelligence," highlighting strengths in agentic coding, knowledge work, and scientific research.
The release comes just seven weeks after GPT-5.4 shipped, and Polymarket traders had placed an 86% probability on a Thursday launch before it was confirmed.
