Lets play with Thomas And Friends Trackmaster Winged Thomas The Tank, Hugo & Skiff and Ryan & Jerome the breakdown train. These Trackmaster 2 train sets are all awesome. The Jet Age Thomas has fold out wings and tailplane. Annie and Clarabel are in dream blue just as you see in the Thomas Streamlining song but there are aviator goggles on them (they look like Minions). It's one of the more unusual Trackmaster 2 Thomas variations I have seen. Hugo & Skiff also comes with a wagon that has a split speed affected load. Hugo is a Schienenzeppelin! It's an excellent peep into a bit of railway history from Germany. Skiff is only there because he's part of the story that features Hugo. Ryan & Jerome is also related to a TV episode where two deserted Breakdown trains find they do have a purpose on Sodor. Ryan is just more character bloat but Jerome works as a team with Judy. They are twin breakdown trains who have a sleepy life around Sodor. Rocky has normally done the breakdown work but The Fat Controller assigns Judy & Jerome a part of sodor Island to look after. As a piece of character rolling stock Jerome is really nice. The breakdown train articulates and can detach into two parts. The lifting arm can also be folded back for compact transport. There are reads on the boxing that half tells the story about these toys. I'm not exactly sure how the winged Thomas fits in to Hugo & The Airship apart from a throwaway line of Thomas wishing he could fly. I never saw the jet age Thomas in the episode that was ripped onto YouTube. Anyway these are all really nice Thomas Trackmaster train sets. I'm pretty sure all will be popular. The best fun with these Thomas trains is to set up a circuit and have train races and crashes. The excellent Shooting Star Gordon also features to make sure the train race has the fastest train possible.

Hugo is based on a curious bit of German rail history .The Schienenzeppelin or rail zeppelin was an experimental railcar which resembled a zeppelin airship in appearance. It was designed and developed by the German aircraft engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. Propulsion was by means of a propeller located at the rear. It accelerated the railcar to 230.2 km/h (143 mph) setting the land speed record for a petrol powered rail vehicle. Only a single example was ever built, which due to safety concerns remained out of service and was finally dismantled in 1939. It's an interesting addition to the Thomas stories and toy line.
