Nasser Al Attiyah and team Overdrive Racing have re-built the Toyota Hilux ahead of the upcoming Dakar Rally 2019, and it’s obviously not your average 4x4 cruiser. Instead, the vehicle has been customized to take on some of the roughest and toughest terrains on the planet!
This can also mean giving up the luxury of air conditioning. According to Al Attiyah, this pumps up the car’s performance throughout the race, but it can also bring in very HOT temperatures!
“I’m the only one who doesn’t use air conditioning throughout the Dakar, because it adds 20 Kilos and I don’t want to be carrying around 20 kilos for nothing. Sometimes it gets really hot. In 2017 temperatures inside reached 62 degrees! But we’re really fine without Air Conditioning. It’s no problem!”
