Alice Neel FREEDOM at DAVID ZWIRNER

James Kalm is back in West Chelsea, and is privileged to bring viewers a walk-through chat and tour of “Freedom” a museum class exhibition of the work of Alice Neel. This show presents paintings that span nearly fifty years of creativity, and bear witness to Neel’s abilities as a disrupter of gender expectations, an articulate observer of social situations, a masterful painter, and a receptive humanist with all its diverse representations. Highlighted are a series of nude portraits of pregnant women and art world personalities. A musical introduction is provided by Hungry March Band. This program was recorded March 9, 2019
