Written, directed, and produced by John Hughes, with a budget of $1 million dollars, The Breakfast Club went on to gross over $51 million and receive much critical acclaim. In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
