EXPOSE FOR THE HIGHLIGHTS | Tutorial Tuesday

This week, we're looking at why you should expose for the highlights, how to do it and what the ultimate benefit is.

It's a lot easier to recover detail from the shadows when editing your photos than to recover details in the highlights. In situations where you have a very wide dynamic range like a bright sky and a foreground in shadow, it's difficult for your camera to capture everything in a single exposure.

By exposing for the highlights so that they are properly exposed (often leaving other areas in the photo looking very dark), you leave yourself with a lot of room to recover the details in the shadows when editing (in this case, in Lightroom)
