How to fill in the DS-5540

The new form DS-5540 has been introduced and is already being used for cases in embassies around the world. The intention of the new form is to gather information about the applicants financial position to determine if that person will become a public charge. THat in itself can be the cause of denial for immigrant applications, so it is important to understand how to complete this new form the DS5540.

I recommend people go to their interview with this form already completed, because that can save delays after the interview.

This form would be presented in addition to the Affidavit of Support (I-864 for most immigrant cases, I-134 for DV lottery cases).
