Stories Of Children From One Of Singapore’s Poorest Neighbourhoods

Mei Jun may live in one of Singapore’s poorest neighbourhoods, but she has also grown up to become a bubbly 14-year-old who has learnt to appreciate the little things in life — especially friends whom she has made along the way.

“Even if everyone thinks that this place is not good, we will use these words to tell them our story. Our real story.”

Readable is a non-profit that runs English literacy classes for children from low-income families in a Chinatown neighbourhood.
