A Neighborhood called Shipoke | Aerial PA

First settled by Europeans in 1710 as a small trading post along the Susquehanna River, today Shipoke is a charming riverside neighborhood of Harrisburg, PA.

It is known for its historic row houses, tree-lined streets, and scenic views of the river and City Island. Shipoke is a close-knit community with a vibrant local culture.

Residents of Shipoke enjoy easy access to outdoor recreational activities like walking, jogging, and biking along the riverfront trails. The neighborhood is also within walking distance of downtown Harrisburg, offering a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

The neighborhood lies within the flood plain of the Susquehanna River and through the years extensive rehabilitation has occurred. The last major flood was in 2011 with Tropical Storm Lee.
