Very aggressive Monocled Cobra(Naja kaouthia) rescued from :Bhadrak,Odisha

1-The monocled cobra (Naja kaouthia) is native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The snake can be found in India, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia, as well as Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Nepal, and Thailand.
2-The snake’s length ranges from 4 to 5 feet with a maximum length of 7.5 feet. They are called monocled cobras due to the O shape hood pattern, also knowns as the monocellate hood pattern.
3-Monocled cobras are found in grasslands, scrublands and forests as well as human settlements and cities. They are also known to inhabit agricultural lands such as rice fields where they are known to hide in burrows of small rodents.
4-They feed on small mammals such as rodents, and other snakes. Juveniles eat amphibians.

5-Venom / Bite
Their highly toxic venom is considered one of the fastest acting snake venoms in the world and can cause death in just an hour after envenomation. Contrary to the Indian Cobra (N. naja) monocled cobras can deliver a bite in the very first attack making it even more dangerous.

Their bite causes localized swelling at the bite area but also the progressive paralysis of the nervous system which may lead respiratory paralysis and death due to asphyxia. The monocled cobra bite may also lead to tissue necrosis requiring surgical intervention.

They have a pair of fixed anterior fangs, that may reach more than 6mm, and are somewhat adapted for spitting. ​These snakes cause more human fatalities than any other snake in Thailand.
