How to refill a CANON PRO 1 PGI 29 Cartridge
The PRO-1 from CANON promised to be a great printer and it delivered!
Unfortunately it did not really sell in the numbers needed to interest 3rd party ink and resetter companies well enough to have them invest the time and money to provide full 3rd party support.
The PRO-10 barely made it and of course the best selling print of recent time the PRO-100 took almost a whole year to achieve that.
So the only options for PRO-1 users who want to be able to use a cheaper route is to learn to refill those OEM carts and swop the original chips for single use ones from ALIBABA.com fro CHINA.
These will set you back about $2 to $2.50 a piece.
The carts will require some slight modifications to allow you to insert the fatter CHINESE single use chip. That's where I come in.
I hope to be able to provide you with modified carts ready to accept single use chips and be refilled with whatever inks you choose to use. Or I will sell chipped carts ready for refilling as well.
Inkjetcarts.us has inks available for the PRO-1 for about $14 per 110ml per color. There are 12! You would need custom profiles created to be able to match the OEM color rendition and reproduction. Precisioncolors.com MAY be interested enough to finally get an inkset finalized for the PRO-1.
They already have an excellent one for the PRO-10
Like they do for all their other ink sets, they provide outstanding free profiles for a mass of different common papers.
So you would be good to go from the start.
In this video I demonstrate how easy it is to refill your original PGI-29 carts which hold 39-40 ml of ink.
The CHINESE compatible carts only come loaded with 29ml !!!!!
In later videos I will demonstrate the chip swop and how I mod the carts.
