Conductor Alondra de la Parra meets American actor John Malkovich and violinist Aleksey Igudesman in Vienna to talk to them about their project, 'The Music Critic'. In the piece, John Malkovich takes on the role of a truly nasty critic, delivering history’s most scathing reviews of some of the world’s greatest works of music. Aleksey Igudesman (who created the piece) and other musicians get the chance to imagine how the composers of those disparaged works might have responded to their critics. 'The Music Critic' combines classical music, theater and comedy. And it’s every creative person’s revenge on every critic who ever gave them a bad review!
