For Practice Notes 62, I would like to share with you some work that I've been doing in order to improve my playing with contrary motion. What is helping me a lot is to be in touch again with the basic layout of the keyboard, getting used to grouping the runs into separate outlines, and also working on different patterns that challenge my coordination. Contrary motion in F# Major is something an absolute beginner at the keyboard can also try, as long as you mind the positions of the black keys.
02:21 Here are 3 exercises I came up with in the lydian mode (from easier to more complex), and my strategies for playing them. Look out for the other modes which I will show in upcoming practice notes videos and/or my instagram (@nahresol).
