Directions:
• 1 Turkey size oven bag
• 1 and ½ tablespoon all-purpose flour
• 12 pound Turkey (thawed, clean and giblets removed and discard unless you use for gravy... I don’t I use dressing gravy for my turkey also)
• 1/2 cup turkey or chicken broth
• 1 peeled sliced apple
• 1 onion cut in 4 chunks
• Celery stalks as needed
• 1 stick unsalted butter soften at room temp
• Seasonings of choice as needed I used (salt, tj bbq rub coffee/garlic, mesquite, smoked paprika, italian, brown sugar and bourbon
1. Pre-heat oven to 350
2. Take your turkey bag and sprinkle in the flour and shake your bag to coat and set in side a deep baking pan at least 2 inches deep
3. In a small bowl mash up soften butter and sprinkle in the seasonings you are using mix well
4. Take your clean turkey that you patted dry and giblets removed
5. Spread the seasoned butter under the skin on top of the breast then take the remaining butter mixture and spread all outside of turkey and inside
6. Then add on extra seasoning all around turkey both sides
7. Stuff turkey cavity with onions ,2 stalks of celery and apple slices
8. Place 4 stalks of celery in bag then pour the turkey broth in then lay turkey in bag breast side down this will keep breast super moist from all the juices from the dark meat
9. Close bag with the tie it came with then cut 5 to 6 small slits top of bag
10. Roast in oven for 1 and ½ to 2 hrs 15 minutes for 12 pound turkey (that’s the size I aim for to have maximum flavor
11. Check the thickest part of thigh to make sure juices run clear and temp reaches 165
12. Let it rest at least 30 minutes before carving (optional) cause its still going to fall off the bone if you want to dig in right away
