Canyon’s Friedman Spots ‘Mistakes’ in Frothy Markets

Today, the co-founder and co-CEO of Canyon Partners sees “mistakes” being made in the aggressive bids by private-equity firms and SPACs. In this interview, he discusses the nature of distressed-debt investing, explains why Canyon focuses on higher-return strategies than many of its larger peers, reflects on the origins of the firm, shares his views on philanthropy, and reveals his rationale for moving to Dallas from Los Angeles.
