Why CORA? A Tool to Help With State Court Clerkship Recruitment

State court clerkships and other professional opportunities introduce diverse candidates to rewarding careers in local courts, but the recruitment and application process can be difficult. Join NCSC as we present CORA, a new online recruitment and application tool for courts and students across the nation.

Court Opportunity Recruitment for All (CORA), an online tool to help match law students with state court opportunities, developed out of the National Center for State Courts’ (NCSC) Blueprint for Racial Justice (BRJ) (funded by State Justice Institute). The BRJ launched in 2021 in response to action from the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators to examine the systemic changes needed to make equal justice under the law an enduring reality for all.

The online tool allows courts across the nation to post their internship, externship, and judicial clerkship opportunities on one platform. The NCSC, law schools, and partners promote CORA and complement individual court recruitment efforts to raise awareness of court opportunities among a diverse number of law students. Law students can visit CORA to complete a simple application process and view open opportunities across the nation.

This presentation will introduce CORA and how it works, highlight the benefits of its, and share how CORA can help improve diversity among state courts professionals.
