How To - Fly Cut an LS Piston - LQ4 Pistons
In this How To video I will show you how to fly cut an LS Piston. Fly cutting might be also known as Piston Notching, basically what you are doing is putting a valve relief in the piston so you can have more clearance between the valve and the piston.
The piston that I'm doing this to is an LQ4 piston (dished) from an LS 6.0. I have never done this before so this is a first for me! Fly cutting (Piston Notching) a piston is a way to gain clearance between the valve in the piston. There are other means that you can do but some might not be the right choice for you. I will share those choices with you in this video.
I will also show you what you need, how to setup the fly cutting tool (Lindy Tool) and show you how to cut the valve relief. I also will show you what could go wrong as well if you are not paying close attention to what you are doing.
So please watch the whole video as it contains a lot of information about fly cutting a piston and then you can decide if you should take on this task.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
