India’s ‘YouTube election’: Influencers enlisted to mobilise youth vote
It’s been dubbed the ‘YouTube election’ with parties enlisting the country’s army of influencers, often for money, to boost their chances of winning by mobilising the all-important youth vote.

India has the world’s largest YouTube audience and the internet offers the opposition direct access to voters, now that most mainstream media supports the ruling BJP.
But as we report from Madhya Pradesh, it also allows candidates and those who back them, to avoid meaningful scrutiny.
