World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education: Session 2 - ECCE educators and caregivers
The World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (WCECCE) took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 14-16 November 2022. The conference spotlights Early Childhood Care and Education workforce and Caregivers as a thematic area that require greater attention to accelerate progress on SDG 4.2. and 4.C. The workforce plays a pivotal role in the effort of ensuring the quality of the ECCE environment. This High - level session ascertain the policy levers required to foster quality, competences and better professional status of ECCE personnel at global level.
This session aims at:
1. Supporting ECCE public and non-state services in attracting and retaining a qualified and gender-balanced workforce.
2. Assessing the gaps between the policy goals, ECCE workforce recruitment, and expected education levels.
3. Sustaining technical and coordinating capacities to build and monitor ECCE professionalization paths (certification, licensing, career advancement and coaching).
4. Determining the minimum qualifications and competency standards required for the ECCE workforce.
5. Fostering ECCE staff’s support, supervision and leadership throughout the 0-8 services.
6. Strengthening parenting and care services through an integrated, multisectoral approach.
