Roland R-8 MKII - The last great Roland drum machine? Comparison, features, info & programming tips

Another not very exciting video, but I thought it was about time I tried to make a better video showing how to edit the parameters on the fly. If you have an R8 and these features aren't clear, hopefully this will help.
Also I have to mention that a great option has appeared on the market.

You can add your own samples to a RAM card (via USB) and then use them in your R8. This is amazing. I will be trying this soon because for me, although the samples in the R8 are great, it's the programming that makes this the king of drum machines. Being able to use these features with your own sounds is a game changer.
Please share and subscribe and that way I can upload more and more.

A small history of me and the R8. I first encountered it when I started releasing music in the late 80's. I had a TR-808 and found the R8. The two together was a killer combination. Many people overlooked it, but the features were amazing to me. As time went on I noticed a few others were using it in the same way, like Autechre for example. It remained a bit of a hidden gem for ages. But it's still as creative to me as the day I first discovered a few tricks that I still use.

Later models like the R70 just didn't have the punch of the R8 to my ears. After that I think it was the DR880 etc and it's nothing to do with the R8. So I consider it the last of the classic Roland drum machines.
